Why isn’t it ever God’s Will for a sick person to go to the hospital? It is in my church, and just about every major church. The Catholics knocked themselves out building church where they apparently go about thwarting God’s Will by healing people with the help of medicines and surgeries.

Should we build buildings to seismic code using science? Is that thwarting God’s Will?

Should we immunize children? What about airbags? For that matter, maybe God meant us to walk. For that matter, why do we plant crops? Shouldn’t we just let God decide what to have grow. (Obviously, he’d rather dandelions and clover grow in my backyard rather than grass.)

The God I believe in wants us to alleviate human suffering. He gave us nice big brains to use to think of how to do that.

I’m sorry, but the midwife in the Oregon City faith healing case has set me off. She said it was God’s Will that this baby die. I disagree.
